Student population is made up of grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12. Annual enrollment is approximately 460 cadets (approx. 260 in the high school and approx. 100 in both the middle and lower divisions). A typical graduating senior class has 60-70 students. All graduating seniors are expected to attend a four-year college or university. The Academy employs 60 professional faculty members of which over fifty percent hold advanced degrees. About thirty percent of the faculty lives on campus and in the dormitories with the boarding cadets. There is a faculty to student ratio of 1:10 and the Academy prides itself in small class sizes. AFA is chartered as a nonprofit corporation directed by the Headmaster for a self-perpetuating Board of Trustees, active members of which include alumni and parents of alumni. The Academy occupies 55 acres on Boca Ciega Bay in beautiful and sunny St. Petersburg, Florida.
